The five virtues of Gratitude, Independence, Resilience, Leadership and Service serve as the guiding principles of The Island Classroom
Gratitude – Recognizing and appreciating the positive aspects of life, expressing thanks for the contributions and achievements of others, and cultivating a mindset of thankfulness.
Independence – Valuing self-reliance, autonomy, and the ability to make one’s own decisions, while balancing the needs and input of others.
Leadership – Inspiring, guiding, and supporting others towards a common goal or vision, demonstrating effective communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Resilience – Is not about ignoring difficulties or suppressing emotions but rather adapting well in the face of adversity.
Service – Contributing to the well-being and happiness of others, engaging in acts of kindness, generosity, and selflessness, and using one’s skills and resources to make a positive impact on the world.

Camp life is about growth and discovery, strengthening friendships and building self-confidence. Our goal is to help each camper gain a deeper understanding of self as she strengthens her relationships with other people and the world around her.
