The Island Classroom invites students to spend an unforgettable day immersed in the rich culture of a Fijian village on Taveuni Island. This unique experience offers a deep connection to local traditions, daily life, and community values, fostering respect and understanding across cultures.
Students begin the day learning how to build a bili bili (bamboo raft) before joining community members to prepare a traditional lovo feast, cooked using heated stones covered by banana leaves. They participate in a heartfelt church service, experiencing the spiritual and communal life at the heart of Fijian culture. The day wraps up with friendly games of rugby or volleyball, where laughter and teamwork bridge cultural differences.

More than just a visit, this experience provides students with a profound appreciation for the resilience, hospitality, and traditions of Fijian villages.
